Being able to do as much of what you want on your own terms as possible.
Mental health and emotional abuse
Chill out, enjoy yourself. You’re awesome.
All the ups and downs and stops and half starts. When you look at the people who are doing really well their success seems like a straight, smooth trajectory upwards but for me it’s been slow and halted. I find it hard to work out what I want exactly and where to put my energy. I get side-tracked and lose focus very easily and end up doing something that I think I should do instead of listening to myself. And it really shows through in my work when I’m not really into it. I struggle with self-promotion, networking… I don’t know how to do it. It’s all the people stuff I turn to art to avoid. Not a great career move but good for my sanity and I’ve learnt to deal with the pros and cons of having such a lackadaisical approach to ‘getting myself out there’.
